Dear Friends,You are warmly invited to our second online RINGO Community Gathering – Participatory Grantmaking: What, Why and How?
During the interactive session, we will explore the key principles, benefits, best practices and challenges of participatory philanthropy and grantmaking – from the perspectives of the funder, INGO and community.
“Participatory grantmaking cedes decision-making power about funding–including the strategy and criteria behind those decisions–to the very communities that funders seek to serve.”
Deciding Together: Shifting Power and Resources Through Participatory GrantmakingWe’ll welcome Charlotte Timson (Transform Trade, RINGO Lab) and Mohammed Awal Alhassan (Norsaac, RINGO Lab) to reveal their learnings from prototyping a participatory grantmaking framework in Ghana and Kenya, and Diana Samarasan (Disability Rights and Participatory Philanthropy expert) to discuss a new Advancing Participation in Philanthropy self-assessment tool that is being piloted in 20 foundations across the USA, Europe, Mexico, South Africa and India.
Together we will shine a spotlight on the principles of participatory grantmaking and philanthropy, and share practical, action oriented guidance to adopting a genuinely participatory approach in your organisation.
The session will be in English with live interpretation in French and Spanish.
